Birmingham’s second-largest law firm is expanding its footprint into Texas.
Maynard Cooper & Gale has opened an office in Dallas with three former Hudnall PC attorneys.
Many of Birmingham’s law firms have been expanding into other markets outside of the state in recent years. Bradley Arant Boult Cummings opened a Dallas office earlier this year. Maynard most recently expanded into California with an office in Los Angeles and has also opened offices in San Francisco, New York City and Washington D.C. in the last five years.
“We are excited to continue our strategic growth into top-tier, high-opportunity markets with the opening of an office in Dallas — the sixth largest legal market in the country — by bringing on a talented team of real estate attorneys who are leaders in their market,” said Jeff Grantham, managing shareholder. “Matt and his team are a great professional and cultural fit with our firm — respected, top attorneys in their field who live our core values of client-centered teamwork.”
Matt Hudnall, who served as president of Hudnall PC, serves as managing shareholder of the new office. His team includes Karen Cowden and Allan Katz.
“The addition of our newest team members and their deep background in real estate development, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and fund formation will further solidify the firm’s nationally recognized real estate practice as one of the more comprehensive, experienced legal teams in the country,” said Tom Clark, chair of Maynard’s real estate practice. “We are thrilled about the firm’s expansion into one of the country’s most dynamic markets, and we look forward to working with Matt, Karen, and Allan as we further expand Maynard Cooper’s real estate offerings.”
The three collectively bring more than 75 years of experience in real estate law, including representation of landowners, investors, and developers in land acquisition and development, entitlement enhancement, dispositions, commercial leasing, financing, joint ventures, and fund formation. The group is the long-standing counsel to Stratford Land and will continue to work with the investment management firm at Maynard.
Maynard now has nine offices across five states with more than 275 attorneys.
