Houston-based Spectra Energy Corp. has agreed to purchase the Express-Platte pipeline from Kinder Morgan Energy Partners and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan for $1.25 million in cash and $240 million in assumed debt.
The pipeline runs 1,717 miles from the Bakken Shale in Canada and North Dakota to refineries in Illinois and Wyoming. It can transport up to 280,000 barrels of oil daily.
Spectra is being advised by a team of lawyers from New York-based Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meager & Flom, including Houston energy and project finance partner Ann Hawkins. Spectra Energy’s general counsel is Reginald Hedgebeth.
Houston-based Kinder Morgan turned to Blake, Cassels & Graydon, which is based in Calgary.
