Simpson Thacher & Bartlett announced this week that Houston dealmaker Shamus Crosby has joined the firm from Vinson & Elkins.
Crosby, who started his career at Bracewell and practiced for nearly 10 years at V&E, advises private equity sponsors, institutional investors and strategic companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and financings. He said he is “thrilled” to join Simpson Thacher and noted the firm’s reputation for being involved in “some of the most interesting and impactful deals in the market.”
Robert Rabalais, who leads Simpson Thacher’s 56-lawyer Houston office and is also a V&E expat, praised Crosby’s “exceptional experience advising some of the most sophisticated energy industry participants on highly complex and significant acquisition transactions.”
Last year, Crosby advised KKR in connection with its equity commitments to Javelin Energy Partners and Western Natural Resources.
Crosby co-led Dallas-based Covey Park in the oil and gas exploration company’s $2.2 billion sale to Comstock Resources in 2019. The Texas Lawbook included the transaction in its Top 10 most important deals in Texas for that year.
In 2018, Crosby represented TPG Sixth Street Partners on its $500 million partnership with Glendale Energy Ventures to fund acquisitions of non-operated oil and gas properties.
