Deputy GC of Highgate Hotels Joins Locke Lord

February 15, 2022 Brooks Igo

Locke Lord bolstered its real estate-finance practice in Dallas on Tuesday with the addition of Highgate Hotels’ Deputy General Counsel Justin Mapes.

Over the past six years, Mapes has been responsible for the legal affairs of Highgate Hotels’ management and investment platforms in connection with the acquisition, management and operation of approximately 400 properties across the U.S., Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and Europe.

“Justin’s broad base of experience in real estate, real estate finance and hospitality transactions as well as his dynamic background encompassing both senior in-house roles and private practice make him a fantastic addition to our Dallas office and national practice,” Robb Stewart, co-chair of the firm’s real estate practice group, said in a statement.

Before Highgate Hotels Mapes was associate general counsel at Goldman Sachs, where he managed the legal affairs of the portfolio management, real estate, loan asset management and specialty lending group divisions.

In addition to his decade-plus experience working in-house, Mapes gained experience in private practice at Weil and Hunton & Williams (now Hunton Andrews Kurth).
