August 2, 2018 Brooks Igo

(Aug. 2) – Akerman announced on Thursday three lateral partner hires to its Dallas office.

Real estate transaction specialists Mark McElree and Kacy Whitehead join Akerman from McElree Smith and insurance litigator Elliot Strader was previously in-house at TRT Holdings, the Irving private holding company that owns Omni Hotels and Gold’s Gym.

McElree, a former tax accountant with Arthur Andersen, concentrates his practice on real estate, real estate finance and oil and gas transactions. His clients include developers, private equity funds, REITs, national and multi-national corporations and insurance companies.

Whitehead counsels pension fund advisors, REITs, private equity funds and developers on real estate transactions of office, multi-family, retail, hospitality, industrial and senior living projects. She has also served as general counsel for a Dallas-based independent hotel and management company.

At TRT Holdings, Strader managed a portfolio of litigation. He has experience handling insurance coverage and bad faith, personal injury, complex business disputes, oil and gas and government contracts matters.

Since the beginning of the year, Akerman has brought on nine lateral partner hires.
