Akin announced Thursday that Charlie Ofner, a Houston partner specializing in energy and infrastructure transactions, has moved to the firm from White & Case.
Ofner is the fifth transactional partner addition in Houston by Akin over the past year, joining Trent Bridges, Ian Goldberg, Bryan Flannery, and Andrew Lehman.
“Akin has a comprehensive domestic and international energy platform with strength across oil and gas and the energy transition, making this an ideal setting for my clients,” Ofner said in a statement. “The firm’s depth across the energy value chain, strength in private equity and fund formation, and collaborative culture drew me here.”

A former senior counsel for Oasis Petroleum, Ofner’s clients include strategics, private equity investors and their portfolio companies, and other private companies in the upstream, midstream, downstream, infrastructure, trading, and power sectors. He represents them in mergers, equity and asset acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, project development, and commercial contracts.
In January, Ofner helped lead Kimbell Royalty Partners’ $231 million purchase of Magbee Ranch interests from Boren Minerals.
Last year, Ofner advised Tokyo Gas in acquiring a minority equity interest in ARM Energy Trading and played a key role in TotalEnergies’ $148 million deal for Talos Low Carbon Solutions.
