(Aug. 29) – Houston-based Andrews Kurth announced Monday that it has reached an agreement with an intellectual property and technology boutique in New York to hire all 55 lawyers at the firm.
The agreement between AK and Kenyon & Kenyon, which was first reported by the Texas Lawyer early Monday, boosts the number of lawyers in Andrews Kurth’s IP section to 90 and it lifts the firm’s total lawyer head count to more than 400.
In a press release issued two hours after the TL report, AK said the transaction, which the firm points out is not a merger, is scheduled to close in early September.
“It’s not often that you find a firm that shares a similar culture and core values, and it became clear early on that the Kenyon lawyers were a good fit for us,” Bob Jewell, AK’s managing partner, said in a written statement.
