AT&T Attorney Vicki Blanton Wins Award from National Bar Association Women Lawyers’ Division

July 24, 2018 Brooks Igo

Vicki Blanton, assistant vice president – senior legal counsel, tax & benefits at AT&T in Dallas – is the recipient of the 2018 Outstanding Corporate Counsel Achievement Award for the National Bar Association (NBA) Women Lawyers’ Division.

The NBA is the largest organization of African-American attorneys in the U.S. Blanton was one of six nominees for the award. She will be officially recognized at the NBA Annual Convention in New Orleans on July 31.

“I am quite honored to receive this prestigious award,” Blanton says. “It is always humbling to be honored by your peers, particularly given that there were very few women of color practicing as in-house counsel when I started almost 3 decades ago.

Further, given there are so few ERISA attorneys among all attorneys, I am privileged to have been considered and selected from all the other outstanding candidates submitted for nomination.”

Blanton has been at AT&T for nearly three years. Her career has included in-house positions at Walmart, General Motors, American Airlines and JCPenney.

The SMU Dedman School of Law graduate started her career as an associate at Thompson & Knight and later served as an assistant city attorney for the City of Dallas.
