Regina A. Pearson, an energy projects partner, has joined Baker Botts in Austin from Greenberg Traurig, the firm announced Monday in a news release. She will focus her practice on energy project development and construction matters across sectors such as liquefied natural gas, power, hydrogen and renewables.
Before joining Baker Botts, Pearson was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig in Austin, where she worked on energy project development following being hired in 2023. Prior to Greenberg Traurig, she co-chaired the infrastructure team and co-led the energy asset class at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath. Early in her career, Pearson served as senior counsel at McDermott International Inc. (2018-2020) and CB&I (2015-2018), negotiating agreements for energy and processing facilities.
“Regina brings exactly the specialties our clients need right now,” said Danny David, Managing Partner at Baker Botts, in the release. “We’re investing in construction and project development capabilities to stay ahead of accelerating demand for counsel on LNG, hydrogen, carbon capture, and renewable projects. Regina has negotiated billion-dollar construction agreements, structured joint ventures for complex facilities, and done it from both sides. That combination gives clients confidence when projects are this large and this technical.”
“When you’re advising on multibillion-dollar projects that require multiple legal disciplines to develop and years to construct, you need the depth of experience and breadth of capability that Baker Botts offers its clients. That’s what drew me here,” said Pearson.
In 2024, Baker Botts recorded $406.9 million in Texas revenue, an increase of nine percent from the previous year, according to the Texas Lawbook 50. That placed the firm at No. 5 in the Lawbook 50 rankings by revenue generated by its Texas lawyers last year, trailing only Kirkland, V&E, Jackson Walker and Norton Rose.
In terms of headcount, Baker Botts ranks No. 7 in the Lawbook 50, with 294 Texas lawyers in 2024, an increase of almost one percent from the previous year.
