Trevor Coddington, an intellectual property attorney, has joined Kane Russell Coleman Logan as a director in the firm’s Austin office. He will focus his practice on patent prosecution, patent litigation, trademark and copyright counseling, and intellectual property strategy, according to the firm.
Before joining Kane Russell Coleman Logan, Coddington was a partner for nearly three years at Akerman in Austin. He previously founded San Diego IP Law Group, where he practiced for more than ten years. Earlier in his career, he also practiced at Paul Hastings and Hunton & Williams.
Coddington advises clients on patent prosecution, patent litigation, including appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, trademark and copyright counseling, and intellectual property strategy. Drawing on his doctorate in physics and experience as a former USPTO patent examiner, he represents clients developing technologies in areas including artificial intelligence, quantum computing and space technology.
Coddington earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics from Ohio State University in 1992, a doctorate in physics from Old Dominion University in 2000, and his law degree from George Washington University in 2004.
