Baker Botts Promotes Six Lawyers to Special Counsel, Three in Texas

Baker Botts Managing Partner Andrew M. Baker announced the promotion of six lawyers to special counsel effective Jan. 1, 2013. Three of the new special counsel are from the firm’s Texas offices. They are:

Omar Alaniz, who focuses his practice on bankruptcy and workouts. Alaniz, a recipient of the “Sandra Day O’Connor Award for Professional Service,” is in the firm’s Dallas office and is a 2003 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law.

Robert Riddle, who focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling involving patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. Riddle, who received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Houston in 2000, is in the firm’s Houston office and is a 2004 graduate of the South Texas College of Law.

Shawn Shillington, who focuses his practice on corporate issues, including the conduct of public and private securities offerings, SEC disclosure, strategic transactions and corporate governance. Shillington is in the firm’s Austin office.
