Baker & McKenzie Adds Restructuring Lawyer John Mitchell

February 5, 2013 Mark Curriden

John Mitchell is bringing 16 years of experience in restructuring and reorganizations to Baker & McKenzie’s corporate and securities practice as a partner in its Dallas office. He leaves Vinson & Elkins, where he was a partner.
Mitchell’s practice covers all facets of restructuring and reorganization, including the representation of lenders, creditors, debtors, and trustees. Specifically, he focuses on complex bankruptcy, out of court workouts and sales, voluntary liquidations, receiverships, and asset sales.
The Texas Tech School of Law graduate was a recipient of the 2012 Turnaround Management Association’s International Turnaround of the Year Award for his complex and contentious intercreditor negotiations that turned around one of Europe’s most widely-recognized brands in the offshore subsea-services industry.  In 2007, he received the Robert B. Wilson Distinguished Service Award from the Bankruptcy Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
