(March 30) – Bracewell has boosted its public finance practice with the recent addition of Ed Fierro, who is a former official of the SEC’s Office of Municipal Securities. He joins the firm’s Houston office as senior counsel.
As senior counsel to the director of the SEC’s Office of Municipal Securities, Fierro was responsible for coordinating the agency’s municipal securities activities and administering the rules pertaining to the municipal securities market.
He also assisted in implementing the SEC’s short-term fixed income market structure initiatives, reviewing examination findings and enforcement actions, and proposing amendments to Rule 15c2-12, which ensures that municipal securities issuers enter into agreements to provide certain information to the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board about their securities on an ongoing basis.
At Bracewell, Fierro will serve as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and underwriter’s counsel.
