(May 6) – Bracewell & Giuliani announced on Friday that Houston public finance partner Derrick Mitchell has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to Texas Southern University’s Board of Regents. His term, which is subject to Senate confirmation, will run until Feb. 1, 2021.
The nine-member board plus one student regent, who is appointed annually, govern TSU.
Mitchell, a graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, focuses his practice on serving as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and underwriter counsel. He is involved with several local community organizations, including Scenic Houston, Row House CDC, Greater Houston Partnership, 100 Black Men of America Metropolitan and National Black MBA Association.
