Brown Rudnick has added a veteran oil and gas litigator to its nascent Houston office, the Boston-founded firm announced this week.
Lauren Varnado has left Michelman & Robinson, where she helped launch that firm’s Houston presence and served as office managing partner, to become the fourth lawyer at Brown Rudnick’s one-month-old office in the Bayou City.
An alumnus of South Texas College of Law and Texas A&M, Varnado has handled cases involving the production and transportation of oil and gas, breach of energy industry contracts, misappropriation of trade secrets, subsurface trespass, class actions over oil and gas royalties, and upstream disputes between energy producers. She also counsels clients on oil and gas production and business operations, accounting obligations to interest owners, interpretation of oil and gas leases, and royalty payment practices.
“An elite [global] trial + tech boutique is the perfect fit for me. Beyond excited for this opportunity!,” Varnado said in a LinkedIn post.
Varnado started her legal career at Fulbright & Jaworski. During her time there, she worked on a secondment for Shell. She then practiced at McKool Smith before her tenure at Michelman & Robinson.
