A California litigation firm specializing in complex healthcare and insurance-fraud cases launched a Dallas office Tuesday.
Knox Ricksen chose Taylor Steele, a University of Texas School of Law alum, to lead its expansion beyond California. Steele was previously an associate at Nixon Peabody in San Francisco and has also practiced at Greenberg Traurig.
Steele is the fifth partner at Knox Ricksen, which has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He focuses his practice on healthcare fraud and whistleblower claims.
“We are excited to represent fraud victims in Texas,” Knox Ricksen Managing Partner Thomas Fraysse said in a statement.
“There are huge synergies with our work in California on behalf of whistleblowers, insurers and self-insured clients. Our clients face an onslaught of fraud schemes across the country, especially with the pandemic’s changes to healthcare delivery and the increased use of telehealth technology.”
Rounding out the new Dallas outpost are associates Matthew Dias, a former public defender, and Stephanie Rhima, who was previously the lead attorney for the special investigation unit at Allstate.
