Covid-19 and its variants are among the most cited reasons for a potential slowdown in M&A activity through the rest of the year for private equity and family office sources. That’s followed by concerns tied to tax changes, particularly those related to capital gains, which have softened somewhat due to inaction so far from the new federal administration. 

The unknown doesn’t do a lot of favors for buy-side or sell-side activity – yet neither of those matters have suppressed the optimism or aggression in continuing to pursue meaningful deals or opportunities.
