(Oct. 27) – Dallas District Court Judge Tonya Parker is one of three LGBT legal activists to be honored with the Stonewall Award by the American Bar Association Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, the ABA announced yesterday.
Parker will be recognized with Lambda Legal Executive Director Kevin Cathcart and Diana Flynn, chief of the Appellate Section of the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, during a ceremony on Feb. 4, 2017, at the ABA Midyear Meeting in Miami.
The first openly gay woman to be elected as a county judge in Dallas, Parker received the Dallas Bar Association’s highest ratings of any civil district judge in 2013 and 2015.
In 2015, Parker was named Trial Judge of the Year by the Dallas chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
