Michael Biles, a corporate and securities litigation partner, has joined DLA Piper in Austin from King & Spalding.
Biles will focus his practice on securities class actions, derivative lawsuits, and regulatory investigations and enforcement actions involving public companies, officers and directors.
Before joining DLA Piper, Biles spent nearly 14 years as a partner at King & Spalding, where he represented public companies and their officers and directors in securities litigation matters, including shareholder class actions, breach of fiduciary duty litigation and SEC investigations and enforcement actions.
Earlier in his career, he was a partner at Greenberg Traurig and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, focusing on securities litigation defense. Biles began his legal career as an associate at Brobeck, Phelger & Harrison for five years and before that spent two years at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton.
DLA Piper had 145 Texas lawyers in 2024, according to the Lawbook 50, an increase of 1.1 percent from the previous year. The firm generated $127.3 million from those lawyers that year, an increase of 5 percent.
