Dorsey Hires Former Federal Prosecutor Edward Loya

May 5, 2025 Jeff Schnick

Trial attorney and former federal prosecutor Edward J. Loya, Jr., has joined Dorsey & Whitney as a partner in its commercial litigation group in Dallas, the firm announced Monday in a news release.

“Dorsey has a nationally respected trial practice and a robust international platform across many practice areas,” said Loya in the release. “I look forward to contributing to Dorsey’s outstanding team and to providing the highest level of representation to our clients.”

Loya will be the head of the trial practice group for Dorsey’s Dallas office. Before his new role, Loya was a partner at Epstein Becker & Green since February 2018. Prior to that, he was counsel at Venable after leaving his role as a trial attorney for the criminal division of the U.S. Department of Justice in August 2013, a position he held for five years.

“Edward is a highly accomplished trial lawyer with more than 30 civil, employment, and criminal jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations under his belt,” said Christopher Karagheuzoff, commercial litigation practice group co-leader for Dorsey, in the release, which noted Loya has more than 30 trials and arbitrations under his belt. “As a practitioner who handles complex commercial litigation matters, and as a former federal prosecutor who now represents clients in government investigations, regulatory cases, and white collar defense matters, he brings with him the kind of broad-based experience that clients need.”

AREAS OF FOCUS
Loya specializes in business disputes and white-collar civil and criminal enforcement matters, representing companies and executives in federal and state courts, arbitration tribunals and matters involving the DOJ and other law enforcement agencies, according to the release.
