A trio of Houston energy litigators led by William D. Wood have left Norton Rose Fulbright for McKool Smith.
Wood, Justin Tschoepe and Lauren Varnado all join the prominent commercial litigation firm as principals. A former member of NRF’s global supervisory board, Wood has practiced for more than three decades and represented clients in disputes arising from operations and activities in more than 30 countries.
“Willie’s experience both in the U.S. and foreign jurisdictions is unmatched,” David Sochia, managing principal of McKool Smith, said in a statement. “We are very excited about his arrival and his ability to spearhead McKool Smith’s expansion into Mexico and Latin America related litigation, arbitration, investigations and insolvency matters.”
Tschoepe represents energy firms and government contractors in matters involving qui tam claims, claims of breach of contract, indemnity, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud.
Varnado advises oil and gas companies on issues related to acquisitions and divestitures, transactional agreements, and litigation prevention and preparedness.
