(Jan. 10) – Reed Smith announced Tuesday that it has kicked off 2018 with four new additions in Houston, including former TransCanada VP Stacy Williams and ex-Katten partner Ben Patton.

Williams has joined the 70-plus attorney office as counsel. At TransCanada, he was the primary legal adviser for the U.S. natural gas executive team.

Patton, who spent the last five years at Katten Muchin Rosenman, focuses his practice on environmental, health and safety regulatory and compliance matters involving major accidents, chemical releases and other workplace incidents. He will be a part of the firm’s global energy and natural resources group.

The firm also announced the additions of Rachel Thompson, a former bankruptcy associate at Porter Hedges, and Ryan Pate, who was previously a senior international tax associate and CPA at PwC.

“As we near our five-year anniversary in Houston, we have achieved the steady strategic growth that we envisioned when we opened this office,” Kenneth Broughton, Houston office managing partner, said in a statement.
