Gardere’s James Cooper Receives HBA’s President’s Award

May 21, 2013 Mark Curriden

James Cooper, a partner at Gardere, received the President’s Award from the Houston Bar Association (HBA) on May 16 at the HBA’s Annual Dinner Meeting.

This is the second time Cooper has received the award, the first being in 2010 based on his service as co-chair of the HBA’s Professionalism Committee. This year, he was recognized for his service as chair of the HBA Historical Committee, which researches and preserves the 143-year history of the association and its members.

During his tenure as chair, Cooper led the committee in expanding the HBA Living History Program by organizing efforts to digitize existing interviews with prominent senior members of the HBA and expanding interviews to include noteworthy contemporary cases.

Cooper, co-chair of Gardere’s policyholder specialty practice group, focuses his practice on representing policyholders in the resolution of multimillion dollar insurance coverage litigation and arbitration.
