(Sept. 9) – Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher announced last week that Jeremy Brandon, former chief counsel on foreign relations to then-Senator John Kerry, has joined the firm’s Dallas office as a partner.

Brandon was previously at Susman Godfrey, where he handled antitrust, class actions, intellectual property, shareholder/creditor derivative litigation and securities litigation.

“I must have met 50 Gibson Dunn lawyers over the last couple of months, and I saw first-hand in every one of those meetings what I’d heard from clients, former colleagues, opposing counsel and judges alike: this firm is committed to excellence,” he said in a statement.

Rob Walters, Gibson Dunn’s partner-in-charge of the Dallas office, describes Brandon as “white-hot smart” with “stunning” credentials and the “consummate team player.” He said he gave Brandon a call to see if he wanted to stay in Dallas after Susman Godfrey announced it was closing its Dallas office.

“Jeremy could have gone anywhere in Dallas,” he said. “We didn’t have a hole to fill. This is a long-term talent-add for us.”
