Katten Announces Second Addition this Month to Insolvency & Restructuring Practice in Dallas

September 21, 2020 Brooks Igo

Katten kicked off the week by announcing added depth to its insolvency and restructuring practice in Dallas.

The firm has signed partner Michaela Crocker from Jones Day. She is the second lateral recruit to join the practice in Dallas this month. Katten started September by bringing on bankruptcy partner John Mitchell from Akerman.

The Chicago-based firm is one of several firms to beef up its bankruptcy bench as the novel coronavirus pandemic has pushed scores of companies to reorganize or at least consider it. Katten has added 10 attorneys to its insolvency and restructuring practice firmwide this year.

Prior to her one-year stint at Jones Day, Crocker clerked for the Honorable Barbara Houser, who was then the chief judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. She started her career at Vinson & Elkins, where she practiced for 12 years and was part of the team that represented the Texas furniture retailer Lack’s Stores in its liquidation in 2010.

Crocker has significant experience advising clients in the retail, telecommunications and energy sectors.
