After three years with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Tyson Lies has returned to Kelly Hart & Hallman as a partner, the firm announced on Wednesday.
As a trial attorney in the SEC’s Fort Worth Regional Office, Lies led investigations and prosecutions into complex securities fraud and investment misconduct. He will focus on major corporate internal investigations and FCPA defense at Kelly Hart.
“It was one of the most fulfilling and challenging (in a good way) jobs of my career,” Lies said about the SEC post on LinkedIn. “It was an honor to serve alongside public servants who were so wholeheartedly committed to the mission of protecting investors and securing the capital markets. I leave with only positive feelings about my experience and confidence in the Commission’s future success. I always said that if I returned to private practice, I would want it to be at Kelly Hart.”
Before his first stop at Kelly Hart, Lies served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Montana, where he represented federal agencies in statutory, tort and constitutional matters.
Lies started his career as a clerk for Judge Jane Boyle in the Northern District of Texas before joining Jones Day in private practice. He holds a bachelor’s from Brigham Young University and earned a JD from the University of Texas School of Law.
