(Feb. 1) – Kirkland & Ellis has recruited Anna Rotman to help expand its Houston office’s litigation practice group, the firm recently announced.
Rotman, formerly a partner at Yetter Coleman, is among the firm’s first three litigation partners in Houston. She teams up with Brigham Cannon, who relocated from Kirkland’s Washington, D.C. office, and Patrick King.
“I was impressed by Kirkland’s remarkable growth in, and deep commitment to, Houston, the city where I have been practicing for more than a decade,” she said.
Rotman says she has been advising clients “out of all corners of the oil patch” over the past year, including royalty disputes in South Texas, fee disputes in the Haynesville Shale, unfair competition claims in Alberta and fraud claims in Iraq.
Sub-$30 oil has already led to more litigation tied to restructuring, she says.
“In this environment, being close to our clients and understanding their business challenges is more critical than ever,” said Rotman, who is president of the Harvard Law School Alumni Association of Houston.
