Latham & Watkins Lands IP Partner in Austin

August 19, 2024 Brooks Igo

Latham & Watkins announced Monday that Austin patent litigator Raghav Bajaj has joined the firm from Haynes Boone.

Bajaj specializes in contested Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes reviews and post-grant reviews, and handles appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has represented petitioners and patent owners in various industries and technologies, including computer hardware and software, networking, e-commerce, and mobile device applications.

Over the last three years, Bajaj has made appearances in federal court for Unified Patents LLC, X Corp. and IBM.

“Raghav is an exceptional addition to our firm and the Austin office where we support the market’s vibrant tech, life sciences, energy, infrastructure, and private equity sectors, and beyond — from startups to sponsors to large public companies,” Sam Zabaneh, managing partner of Latham’s Austin office, said in a firm statement. “His robust technical background and impressive track record will enhance our formidable team’s ability to address our clients’ most complex IP-related litigation challenges.”

Bajaj received a BA in computer science and his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He started his legal career in D.C. at Dickstein Shapiro and Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox. He moved to Texas to join Sutherland Asbill & Brennan for a short stint before eventually landing at Haynes Boone, where he practiced for more than 10 years.
