(May 7) – Baylor Law School announced on Tuesday that Jerry Clements, chairwoman of Locke Lord, has been named the 2015 Baylor Lawyer of the Year by the Baylor Law Alumni Association Executive Committee. She is the first woman to win the award.

The law school hosted a luncheon on Tuesday in Austin to honor Clements as a “distinguished leader in her professional achievements and service to the community.”

“Jerry is not only one of the finest lawyers going, but even more importantly, one of the finest persons whom I have ever had the privilege of knowing,” Brad Toben, dean of Baylor Law School, said in a statement.

Clements is a 1981 graduate of the law school and a lifetime member and past president of the Baylor Law Alumni Association. She currently serves on Baylor’s Board of Regents.

“I am humbled and honored to be counted among a group of such prestigious Baylor Lawyers of the Year,” she said in a statement. “To be the first woman is even more meaningful. Baylor Law School gave me a wonderful education, many dear friends and the opportunity to achieve things that this girl from Fort Worth could never have imagined.”
