London Firm Strengthens Energy Practice in Houston

May 1, 2019 Brooks Igo

London law firm Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) recently announced that Houston energy partner Fernando Cano-Lasa has joined the firm from Squire Patton Boggs.

Cano-Lasa, who specializes in transactional work in the energy and infrastructure sectors, is HFW’s second lateral hire in the U.S. since merging with Houston-based Legge Farrow in 2017. The firm lured energy transactions partner Derek Anchondo from Greenberg Traurig in 2018. HFW has 24 lawyers total in Houston.

“We now have one of the top specialist energy transactional teams in Houston, and have ambitious plans to further strengthen our U.S. offering across our core sectors and services,” Glenn Legge, a partner at HFW in Houston, said in a statement.

Cano-Lasa has more than 10 years of experience working in-house at state-owned Mexican oil and gas company Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), including five years as vice president of Llegal and strategy at its Houston-based subsidiary PEMEX Procurement International, Inc.
