June 19, 2026 Elle Grinnell

Stacey Norstrud, a maritime litigation partner, has rejoined Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea & BenMaier in Houston. She returns to SBSB after more than four years at Kean Miller.

She will focus her practice on Jones Act defense, maritime civil litigation and complex casualty matters, SBSB said in a news release.

Norstrud was with SBSB from June 2018 to November 2021, when she moved to Kean Miller as senior counsel. She has more than 25 years representing clients in maritime and civil litigation matters. She gained in-house experience working with the shipping department of a global oil company, where she advised on commercial maritime operations and risk management matters. Norstrud began her career at Fowler Rodriguez where she practiced for almost 18 years.

“Stacey’s incredible depth of experience and unique perspectives from major corporate shipping operations make her an invaluable asset to our team,” said SBSB managing partner John Schouest. “Her proven ability to manage complex multi-jurisdictional challenges aligns perfectly with our firm’s commitment to providing exceptional defense representation.”

AREAS OF FOCUS
Norstrud specializes in Jones Act defense, maritime personal injury claims, marine casualty investigations and maritime-related civil litigation. She advises clients on complex litigation arising from vessel incidents, environmental events and industrial accidents with extensive experience managing disaster response matters, coordinating multi-jurisdictional defenses and counseling companies involved in maritime and offshore operations.
