(April 2) – McKool Smith announced on Monday that J. Wiley George has joined the firm as a principal in Houston.

George was most recently at Andrews Kurth Kenyon. He focuses his litigation practice on bankruptcy and restructuring and financial matters.

“[I made the move] for the opportunity to work with some of the best trial lawyers in the country, and more flexibility to take advantage of alternative fee arrangements,” George said.

The Baylor Law School graduate has handled disputes involving fraudulent transfers, valuations of assets, commercial fraud, unfair competition and violations of the Voting Rights Act. He recently obtained a complete dismissal of a $200 million stockholder’s suit in Delaware Chancery Court.

George highlighted the US Supreme Court’s recent opinion limiting 546 (e)’s safe harbor as a hot topic in the bankruptcy litigation arena.
