Chicago-based Winston & Strawn is expected to announce in the next few days that it is opening an office in Dallas. Winston, which has more than 800 lawyers in 18 offices worldwide, is snatching lateral hires away from Fish & Richardson, Jones Day and Locke Lord. Dallas will be the firm’s 19th office.

Bankruptcy Asset Purchasers Anxious Over Texas Supreme Court Case Involving Louisiana School Land Pollution
The Texas Supreme Court heard arguments last week in a dispute between ConocoPhillips and Noble Energy. Although the case ostensibly involves liability for a $63 million oil field cleanup, many energy companies are concerned about its potential effect on the market for energy assets traded in bankruptcy. Patent Infringement Lawsuits Plummet, but EDTX Still Dominates IP Litigation
