Norton Rose Fulbright Adds Depth to Renewable Energy Practice

August 15, 2019 Brooks Igo

Norton Rose Fulbright announced this week that it has picked up a pair of renewable energy experts from McGuireWoods.

The Austin duo includes partner Becky Diffen, who chaired the McGuireWoods renewable energy practice, and senior counsel Sam Porter, who will officially join the firm later this month.

“Becky and Sam provide superb client service and exceptional representation to developers, sponsors and financiers on sophisticated renewable energy matters,” Daryl Lansdale, U.S. managing partner of NRF, said in a statement. “Our global projects team is consistently recognized among the best in the world, and it just got better.”

Diffen specializes in energy transactions, mergers and acquisitions and project development. Before attending the University of Texas School of Law in 2006, she worked as a development manager for Cielo Wind Power, an Austin-based wind power developer.

Porter’s background includes a couple of senior in-house posts. He worked at SunPower Corporation from 2015 to 2018, where he ended up as the senior counsel of global projects, transactions and operations. Earlier in his career, he served as general counsel of CCNG Energy Partners, an oilfield services company that provided salt cavern and saltwater disposal well waste solutions throughout Texas and New Mexico.
