SBSB Eastham Expands Admiralty and Maritime Practice with New Galveston Office

February 24, 2025 Brooks Igo

Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea, BenMaier & Eastham, the firm known as SBSB Eastham, announced Monday it has launched an office in Galveston to beef up its admiralty and maritime practice.

The firm has tapped Erik D. Garza to lead SBSB Eastham’s fourth office in Texas and its eighth nationally. He was previously vice president and general counsel for the risk consulting firm ABS Group of Companies

“I am excited to have the opportunity to lead our new office in Galveston, which has been a thriving maritime commercial center since 1825,” Garza said in a firm statement.

“Opening an office on the island, which is one of the busiest cargo ports in Texas and the fourth largest cruise port in the United States, speaks to the firm’s commitment to our maritime clients and its continued focus on growth.”

John Schouest, managing partner at SBSB Eastham, noted that the firm has multiple clients and cases on Galveston Island.

SBSB Eastham is in its 10th year as a firm and has been on a growth spree over the last nine months, opening offices in Dallas and Corpus Christi as well.

The firm’s Galveston office is located in the historic 1877 Hunter Building.
