(Aug. 9) – A group of primarily Texas-based lawyers from Norton Rose Fulbright said Tuesday that they are advising Charles Schwab in the development of its new campus in North Texas.

The San Francisco-based bank is building a 500,000 square foot office space in the Fort Worth suburb of Westlake. The $100 million project, which will be partially funded by a $6 million Texas Enterprise Fund granted by Governor Greg Abbott, is projected to create at least 1,200 jobs to Tarrant County over the next decade.

The project is the latest example of out-of-state corporations opening major offices in more affordable regions of the country, like Texas.

US Head of Real Estate Jane Snoddy Smith, a partner in Norton Rose Fulbright’s Austin office, led the firm’s deal team. She received assistance from real estate senior counsel Amy Mitchell and associate Jeff Pettit and intellectual property partner Alicia Groos in Austin, as well as tax senior counsel Jay Chadha in Houston. Attorneys from the firm’s St. Louis and Washington, D.C. offices also advised on the transaction.

The corporate campus will anchor a large proposed mixed use development project. The Schwab portion will develop approximately 70 acres of land.
