Saks Files Bankruptcy in Houston

January 14, 2026 Mark Curriden

Luxury retailer Saks Global Holdings, the parent company of Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Tuesday in the Southern District of Texas.

Saks and more than two-dozen affiliated companies stated in court documents that it has burdened by substantial debt but that it has secured $1.75 billion in promised financing if its restructuring is approved.

Saks selected Willkie Farr, Haynes Boone and Bradley Arant as its lead legal advisors to guide the bankruptcy.

Willkie Farr’s legal team includes Houston partner Jennifer Hardy. The Haynes Boone team includes lawyers Kelli S. Norfleet, Kenric Kattner, Arsalan Muhammad, Kourtney Lyda and David Trausch.

Bradley Arant, including Houston lawyers Jarrod Martin and Michael Riordan, is the legal advisor for the Saks subsidiary, Saks OFF 5th.

Houston Bankruptcy Judge Alfredo Perez has been assigned the case. The case number is 25-90103.
