(Jan. 30) – Denton-based Sally Beauty announced a change in the top of the company’s legal department last Friday.
Matthew Haltom resigned as general counsel and corporate secretary after more than four years on the job.
Sally Beauty’s board of directors named deputy GC John Henrich as interim general counsel. A former associate in the corporate section at Winstead in Dallas, Henrich joined Sally Beauty in 2012 as senior counsel. He was promoted to deputy GC in 2016. He was senior counsel at ACCOR Hospitality from 2005 to 2011.
In a Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Jan. 25, Sally Beauty CEO Christian Brickman announced the resignation of Haltom, who has been a lawyer with the company for more than 11 years.
“Mr. Haltom’s resignation was not the result of any disagreement with the Company regarding its operations, policies, practices or otherwise,” Brickman stated in the SEC filing.
Sally Beauty will pay Haltom $41,666 a month for one year and an additional $40,936 to cover the cost of his healthcare insurance under COBRA, according to a separation agreement between the company and Haltom.
The total cost of the package is $500,000. Here is a copy of the actual agreement.
Haltom received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in government from the University of Texas and his law degree from Georgetown.
