Dallas business litigator and community leader A. Shonn Brown has joined Gruber Hurst Johansen Hail Shank as a partner.

Brown represents financial institutions, real estate and construction companies and educational institutions in a wide array of business-related disputes.

Shonn Brown
A 1998 graduate of SMU Dedman Law School, Brown joins Gruber Hurst after spending the first 14 years of her career at Locke Lord in Dallas.

“I had a wonderful experience at Locke Lord and it was a very difficult decision to leave,” says Brown. “But this is an opportunity for me to build my skills and experience as a trial lawyer.”

Brown is the latest in a series of large law firm litigation partners to join litigation boutiques. She is currently the secretary-treasurer of the Dallas Bar Association and has served as a director of the J.L. Turner Legal Association.

“Shonn has boundless energy, is an exceptional lawyer, and is deeply committed to serving the community and the legal profession,” says Michael Hurst, a named partner at Gruber Hurst. “We needed another senior level trial lawyer and she is a perfect fit.”

A lawyer at Locke Lord, who asked not to be identified, said Brown is not only an excellent lawyer, she “is one of the good people in this world.”

Brown is a director of the Dallas Black Theater and Bryan’s House. She also spent three months in the “Lawyers on Loan” program that allows lawyers from large law firms to prosecute criminal cases for the Dallas District Attorney’s office.
