(Sept. 3) – Squire Patton Boggs recently announced that Dylan Drummond, a civil appellate and commercial litigator, has joined the firm’s Dallas office as of counsel.

Drummond, who was previously at K&L Gates in Austin, said he was attracted by the opportunity to help Squire Patton Boggs rebuild its footprint in Dallas and to do more appellate work. Additionally, his new firm’s footprint is similar to what K&L Gates has.

“Litigation work was derivative in Austin, handed over from Houston or Dallas,” he said. “There is no bigger mecca in Texas for litigation than DFW. It is where the clients are, where strategic decisions are made and where the general counsel are.”

Drummond, a Texas Tech University School of Law graduate, clerked for now-Chief Justice Nathan Hecht during the Texas Supreme Court’s 2003-2004 term. He says he has been impressed with the efficiency of the court under Hecht’s leadership.

“The biggest headline [from the Texas Supreme Court this year] is the court disposed of all pending cases for the first time,” he said.

The former Texas Supreme Court clerk also praised Don Willett for bringing national attention to the state’s high court through his popularity and engagement on social media, specifically Twitter.
