Throughout this week and next week, the Texas Access to Justice Foundation is celebrating Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week, which offers free legal aid to Texas veterans at various in-person and virtual clinics across the state.
So far this year, TAJF — the state’s largest funder of pro bono civil legal aid — provided grant funding to 13 nonprofits that offer these services to veterans. And last year, legal aid organizations assisted more than 6,300 Texas veterans with pro bono legal services.
Some clinics provide a broad range of pro bono legal services, while others are more niche, such as those tailored to homeless veterans, family law issues and even some that are job fairs.
Although Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week technically runs Nov. 4-11, pro bono clinics began Nov. 3 and are running as late as Nov. 17. Veterans who want to register for any given clinic can call the phone numbers or visit the links provided below. Openings for volunteer attorneys may still be available, and anyone interested can call the individual clinic of interest to find out.
