Texas State Senator Nathan M. Johnson has signed on with Thompson & Knight, the firm announced on Tuesday.
Johnson upset incumbent Republican Don Huffines last November in the Texas Senate race for District 16. He is the first Democrat to represent the district – which comprises much of North Dallas – in more than three decades.
The commercial and bankruptcy litigator has joined T&K as counsel. He practiced for the last 12 years at Spector Johnson, PLLC, a law firm he co-founded. The University of Texas School of Law graduate is married to Haynes and Boone appellate pro Anne Johnson.
“Nathan is known as someone who tenaciously advocates for his business clients, large and small, and who gets effective results because of his understanding of complex commercial legal issues,” Greg Curry, leader of T&K’s trail practice group, said in a statement. “Someone of his caliber and commitment to community service is a great addition to our team.”
