By Brooks Igo
(June 1) – Thompson & Knight recently announced that trial partner Elizabeth Myers has joined the firm in Austin.
Myers, who was previously a partner at Jones Day in Houston, said her move was prompted by a desire to be back in Austin for family and career reasons.
“Austin is a very important and growing market and I want to be at the leading edge of that,” she said. “T&K has the talent, industry knowledge and platform, both locally and across the state, that I needed.”
Myers represents clients in commercial disputes, product defect, consumer fraud and securities fraud class action matters. She has developed a special focus on healthcare litigation.
Two of the most significant areas related to healthcare are the continued enforcement activity by the federal government and related False Claims Act cases and the growth and expansion of Telemedicine.
At Jones Day, Myers led the firm’s pro bono efforts in Houston. She focused on initiatives related to human trafficking and child advocacy.
In her own pro bono practice, Myers has obtained an asylum grant on behalf of a Honduran woman, who had suffered extreme domestic violence, and her young daughter.
