Weil’s Houston Office Receives United Way Law Firm Iniative Lifetime Achievement Award

April 17, 2013 Mark Curriden

Upon completing its 24-year campaign commitment to United Way of Greater Houston, Weil’s Houston office was named the 2012-13 recipient of the Law Firm Initiative Lifetime Achievement Award.

The office raised a total of $97,000—a 17 percent increase from last year–in contributions for the 2012-13 campaign. Weil’s internal efforts were led by staff members Laura Garner and Dee Dee Mulligan; associates Chris Lopez and Jennifer Nelson; and partner Melanie Gray.

Gray also co-chaired United Way’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society effort, which raised more than $16.1 million for the community-wide campaign.

The United Way has directed outreach to Houston’s legal community since 2002 through its Law Firm Initiative and has annually recognized an individual law firm since 2005.

“The United Way could not be successful without the tireless support of companies and law firms like Weil,” said Anna M. Babin, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Houston, in a press release. “For nearly a quarter of a century, Weil has been a supporter of the United Way – both financially and through the personal participation of attorneys and staff. This award reflects our gratitude for the countless lives that the firm has touched through its generosity.”
