Gabriel Salinas, a mergers and acquisitions partner, has joined White & Case in Houston from Mayer Brown, where he was a partner in the Global Energy group, according to a news release.
Before joining White & Case, Salinas spent three years as a partner in Mayer Brown’s Global Energy Group, where he represented clients in M&A and joint ventures, project development and financing, with a strong focus on the energy transition, infrastructure, renewables and power industries.
He previously served as counsel at Sherman & Sterling from 2021 to 2023 and was general counsel and chief compliance officer at Avant Energy from 2017 to 2021. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, practiced as an associate at Mayer Brown and began his legal journey at Thompson & Knight, where he focused on cross-border M&A and projects.
“Investing in our leading energy and infrastructure capabilities is a strategic priority for White & Case. Moreover, our Houston office is a critical gateway for investment between Latin America and the US,” said firm Chair Heather McDevitt in the release.
According to the Texas Lawbook 50, White & Case’s Texas lawyer headcount fell by 3.7 percent in 2024 to 79. The firm’s Texas revenue generated by those lawyers, however, increased 8 percent to $102 million the same year.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Salinas advises private equity sponsors, funds, sovereigns, multinational corporations and financial institutions in international and domestic mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, according to the release. He has significant experience in energy and infrastructure investments, including carbon capture and storage, renewables, power and LNG projects across the Americas.
