Updated – White & Case Brings On International Arbitration Partner in Houston

August 16, 2018 Brooks Igo

(Aug. 16) – White & Case enhanced its international arbitration capabilities in Latin American and Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) regions through new lateral partner hire Jorge Mattamouros, the firm announced on Thursday.

Mattamouros, who was previously at King & Spalding, will be based in Houston and be that office’s first international arbitration partner.

“It is exciting to join the nascent and fast-growing Houston office and to help the firm build the international disputes practice [in Houston],” Mattamouros says.

Fluent in Portuguese, Mattamouros has significant expertise handling disputes in Brazil and Angola. Overall, he has represented clients across more than 20 jurisdictions in commercial arbitration, investor-state disputes and arbitration-related litigation.

“White & Case is a perfect fit,” he says. “It is a global leader in international disputes and there are synergies between the firm’s platform and my practice.”
