2024 DFW Senior Counsel, Rookie of the Year Finalists Unveiled

December 19, 2024 Mark Curriden

Corporate in-house lawyers at American Airlines, Texas Capital Bank and Workrise are on the short list for the 2024 DFW Corporate Counsel of the Year Awards for Senior Counsel of the Year. And attorneys from ECI Software Solutions and Matador Resources are the finalists for DFW Rookie of the Year.

The Association of Corporate Counsel’s Houston Chapter and The Texas Lawbook received more than 60 nominations for the 2024 DFW Corporate Counsel Awards. The Lawbook previously unveiled the finalists for General Counsel of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement awards.

Those articles can be found here and here.

Today, ACC-DFW President Alvin Benton and The Lawbook officially released the names of the lawyers in the running for two Senior Counsel of the Year awards and Rookie of the Year.

The sole finalist and thus the recipient of the 2024 DFW Senior Counsel of the Year for a Large Legal Department (20 lawyers or more) goes to American Airlines Senior Attorney Steffen Horlacher, who was nominated by Haynes Boone partner Chelsea Leitch.

There are two finalists for the 2024 DFW Senior Counsel of the Year for a Midsized Legal Department. They are Texas Capital Bank Associate General Counsel Ashley Nguyen Ahn, who was nominated by Bell Nunnally partner Dania Duncan Moreno, and Workrise Associate General Counsel Kelsey Williams, who was nominated by Saba Syed of Bell Nunnally.

The 2024 DFW Rookie of the Year also has two finalists.

Baker Botts partner Preston Bernhisel nominated Matador Resources Senior Counsel Cale Curtin and Jordan Cowman of Greenberg Traurig nominated ECI Software Solutions Assistant General Counsel Brennan Champion.

ACC-DFW and The Lawbook will celebrate the finalists and announce the winners at the 2024 DFW Corporate Counsel Awards event on Jan. 30.
