King & Spalding made a pair of lateral partner announcements on Tuesday, adding dealmaking depth in Houston and growing its litigation bench in Dallas.
Drew Baldinger
In Houston, energy transactional lawyer Drew Baldinger has joined the firm from Skadden. He represents energy companies, private equity sponsors and strategic investors in M&A and joint venture transactions in the upstream, midstream, downstream, renewable and transitional energy sectors. He has extensive experience advising clients on offtake, gas supply, transportation and other key contracts in the oil and gas sector.
Jonathan Melmed, co-chair of the K&S corporate group, said Baldinger is a “known quantity to many of our partners and clients” who strengthens the firm’s upstream and midstream bench, in particular.
Baldinger, a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, was at Skadden for the last two years. He has also practiced at DLA Piper, Andrews Kurth and Akin Gump over his career.
Jordan Leu
Dallas litigation partner Jordan Leu moved to K&S from Vinson & Elkins, where he practiced his entire 15-year career. His experience includes representing energy companies, private equity firms and financial institutions in a variety of commercial disputes; representing debtors, creditors and other parties in litigation related to financial restructurings and bankruptcy; and defending lawyers and law firms in professional liability cases.
“I am thrilled to join King & Spalding and to be part of its growth story in Dallas and firm-wide,” Leu, alluding to the K&S Dallas office opening in February with prominent litigator Veronica Moyé and antitrust expert Sean Royall.
“The firm’s platform gives me a great opportunity to expand my bankruptcy litigation and commercial disputes practice, and the prospect of building alongside my new colleagues here in Dallas is very exciting.”
Over the past year, Leu has made appearances in federal court for renewable energy company Enviva, Goldman Sachs Ireland Finance and Houston-based Select Energy Services.
Leu received his law degree from Harvard University and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas.
