The Willis Law Group announced earlier this month that it added litigator Alan Rosenberg to its Dallas office.
Rosenberg, who was previously a partner at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, said the firm’s reputation attracted him to The Willis Law Group.
“Kirk Willis has an impeccable reputation as an attorney, leader, and manager of people,” he said. “Additionally, two close friends from law school work at the firm and could not have been more complimentary of the firm, the people in the firm, and law practices in which the firm engages.”
In addition to his experience as a trial lawyer, Rosenberg has served as an outside general counsel for a number of companies handling a range of legal matters including corporate governance, acquisitions, risk management and employment-related matters. He said he embraced the challenge that comes with being outside general counsel in part because the company he is representing is making significant business decisions based on his legal advice.
“Explaining the legal issues and analysis while outlining the effect of that decision on the rest of the company’s business can sometimes prove to be difficult tasks, but are tasks I really enjoy,” he said.
The SMU Dedman School of Law graduate said there’s one common issue that affects his clients of any size and industry: the need for a virtual presence and the legal risks associated with doing so.
“The use of social media for purposes of name recognition and business development is vital, but it increases significant risks for each and every business – from the ‘Mom and Pop’ retail store to the multi-national manufacturer,” Rosenberg said. “It is imperative to have a properly secured virtual presence, as well as a social media policy to limit the amount of liability that company’s employees create.”
Rosenberg said it is the work he does in the community of which he is most proud. He currently serves on the board of directors of both the Nexus Recovery Center and VMLC (formerly the Vickery Meadow Learning Center) and uses his legal expertise to advise the agencies on the legal effect of decisions the agencies make and prepare and review contracts.
