(November 1) – Baylor Law School’s alumni ranked No. 1 on this summer’s Texas Bar Exam results with a 97.52 percent pass rate.

Texas’ overall 86.05 percent passage rate among those who took July’s bar exam for the first time did not change much from last year’s 86.49 percent rate.

Right behind Baylor is University of Texas School of Law, with an overall passing rate at 95.52 percent. Coming in third place is SMU Dedman School of Law at 91.59 percent.

Of Baylor Law’s 121 students, 118 of them passed. This number is up from last year’s 93.94 percent success rate.

Since 2001, Baylor Law has ranked No.1 among the state’s nine law schools on 18 of 25 bar exams given.

“We have a well-defined mission — one that speaks powerfully to what legal education should accomplish for our profession and for those we serve,” said Baylor Law School Dean Brad Toben in a statement. “We also have consistent high expectations of our students as they develop into professionals. Our success arises from our fealty to that mission and our stewardship of the distinctive program attributes that set Baylor Law School apart.”

Below are the results for all nine Texas law schools in their respected rankings:

1. Baylor Law School – 97.52 percent (118 of 121)
2. University of Texas School of Law – 95.52 percent (256 of 268)
3. SMU Dedman School of Law – 91.59 percent (196 of 214)
4. South Texas College of Law – 89.35 percent (235 of 263)
5. University of Houston Law Center – 88.02 percent (191 of 217)
6. Texas Tech University School of Law – 85.94 percent (165 of 192)
7. Texas A&M School of Law- 85.83 percent (109 of 127)
8. St. Mary’s University School of Law – 82.82 percent (188 of 227)
9. Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Texas Southern University – 79.23 percent (103 of 130)
